Sectioning trolley’s influences customers

New research has shown that customers are more likely to purchase healthier foods, if their trolleys have a specific section dedicated to fruit and vegetables. New Mexico State University’s College carried out a simple, but effective, experiment on shoppers to confirm this. Researchers sectioned off an area of shoppers’ trolley’s with duct tape and then placed signs stating that vegetables and fruit should be placed in that section.

Amazingly, customers who used the specially segregated shopping trolley’s bought more than 100 per cent more fruit and vegetables than those who used the regular shopping trolleys for their grocery shopping. Whilst this meant that customers ended up with a much healthier grocery shop, sadly for the supermarkets, the experiment did not result in shoppers spending more in-store!

Supermarkets are, of course, kings when it comes to clever marketing strategies and the powerful use of promotional products. They have created a world in which the aisles are filled with the smell of freshly baked bread (whether it is actually baked on-site or not), food is coloured coded to appeal to shoppers at a subliminal level and promotional merchandise is designed to make customers want what they didn’t even know they needed.

With the big guns around it can be difficult for smaller companies to get a slice of the pie. However, by adopting a smart marketing trick and putting promotional products to good use, businesses can get their brand and their promotional merchandise to the fingertips of supermarket shoppers.

Anyone who has struggled to find a pound coin in the pouring rain, or with two screaming children by their side, will absolutely love the ingenious promotional products that are Printed detachable trolley token key rings. This item of promotional merchandise virtually defines the word ‘handy’!

Supplied with a spring clip and split ring fitment and fully printable with your company logo, these place your company in your customers’ hands, even when shopping elsewhere.
