The End of Your World Is Coming In 2012… If You Are A Plastic Bag in London

The Guardian has joyfully reported the news that the Mayor of London has announced plans to make London a ‘plastic bag free City’ by the 2012 Olympics. This is fantastic news for the environment and also for your business. This means of course that people will have to use alternatives to the traditional plastic bags to go about their daily business and on shopping trips. Whilst most of us have now got to grips with reusable bags as an alternative to plastic bags – the Guardian states that 45% of people own reusable shopping bags – only 12% of people are actually remembering to use them.

Non woven polypropylene shopper bagWhilst this latest news presents a fantastic opportunity for businesses to give away useful reusable promotional products and promotional merchandise – such as the Non-woven polypropylene shopping bag – how can you make sure people will actually use them? The trick is getting creative with your designs so that people will want to take them shopping with them. If you choose to give away shopping bags as promotional products then make sure they are well designed, attractive and have mass appeal.

When contemplating the design consider this. Whilst you will want to get your company logo and business name on the bag, would it not be far better that the company name was subtly placed (but readable) and therefore the promotional merchandise bags could benefit from an attractive, eye catching overall design? As a result, they would be far more likely to be used in practice. Simply printing your company name or logo on otherwise banal products does little to encourage consumers to use them.

Ultimately the goal of promotional products is to get more exposure for your brand. With over eleven million people living in London alone, the potential for your promotional merchandise to be recognised and to become a viable marketing tool is undeniably substantial.
